My 250 did this and was a fault in the coil. I found someone who had another ace and we tested the resistance on each coil. I cannot remember which way round it was, but one read 20 ohms and one read 30 ohms. If you go to the garrett side you will see all these posts and you will see which way round it was for good and bad.

The Ace 300 runs at a slightly higher frequency than the F22. And the Ace 300 is a significant improvement over the Ace 250. I believe both (Ace 300 & Fisher F22) and will give approximately the same performance. But that coil looks so easy to pinpoint the targets even without using the pinpoint feature.

I am in the same boat here. I am looking to get back into detecting after a long time away (I was originally looking to replace the coil on my Garrett GTA 500) and a local shop owner told me that both the ACE 250 and Fisher F2 would be better than the 500 with a new coil but that he recommended the F2 over the Ace.
